We created this foundation as a living legacy to our father, Dave Latter.
“Lats” was dad’s nickname in baseball and it’s what most of his friends called him.
Anyone who knew our dad will tell you he was a funny, giving and loyal person – both on and off the field.
To us, he was simply dad – but hardly simple. He worked very hard to make sure he was always there for us: to coach us, to laugh with us and to be present at every school event.
When he died on October 27, 2014, just weeks after his 48th birthday, we experienced heartbreak unlike anything we’ve ever known.
But in the days after, we came to learn just how much our dad meant to so many people. We heard story after story about how he impacted the guys he played alongside at USC and in the minor leagues and how many lives he touched through the years after baseball.
Our dad was special. Through The Lats Legacy Foundation we intend to honor him and keep his memory alive in a way we know would make him proud. We have partnered with his beloved alma mater, the University of Southern California, to establish the Lats Legacy Baseball Scholarship. This annual scholarship will be awarded to a USC baseball player who exemplifies the two characteristics that distinguished our dad: leadership on the field and academic excellence off the field.
Please help us honor our father and the Lats Legacy Foundation, by making a donation now to the Lats Legacy Baseball Scholarship.
Together, we will keep his memory alive.
With gratitude,
Briana and Christian Latter
